My Iceberg

A symbolic gesture against climate change

Adopt an iceberg

Every iceberg on this site is real and tracked by satellite. By adopting one, you keep an eye on melting ice and can support the fight against climate change. The certificate is in your name, or in the name of someone you give it to.

Why we exist

Making melting ice visible

Melting ice is one of the clearest signs of climate change, but it happens far from our eyes. Mon Iceberg makes it concrete: a real iceberg, with a name and a position, and every year news of it and of the sea ice.

  1. See

Real icebergs tracked by the U.S. National Ice Center, and NASA satellite images.

  2. Understand

Public sea ice measurements since 1978, with no exaggeration or shortcuts.

  3. Act

At checkout, tick the Stripe Climate option: 5% of your certificates' amount funds carbon removal.

Everyday action

The actions that really count

Not every action carries the same weight. These are the ones that cut your carbon footprint the most, ranked from most effective to simplest, each with a detailed page.

1Carbon footprint calculator: where to start to reduce your carbon footprintIn France, the average carbon footprint is between 8 and 9 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per person per year. Calculating yours in ten minutes shows you which actions really count for you.2Take the train instead of flying: the most effective way to travelPer kilometre travelled, a French high-speed train emits dozens of times less greenhouse gas than a plane. For trips within France and Europe, choosing the train is often the most effective action of the year.3Eat less red meat: an effective action for the climateAccording to ADEME, a meal with beef emits about 14 times more greenhouse gas than a vegetarian meal. Cutting down on red meat, without necessarily giving it up, makes a real difference over a year.4Heat your home to 19 °C: save energy without feeling coldHeating accounts for the largest share of the energy used in a home. According to ADEME, lowering the temperature by one degree cuts heating consumption by about 7%. A practical guide to a comfortable, low-energy winter.5Short trips on foot or by bike: good for the climate and your healthAccording to Insee, 60% of workers in France who live less than 5 km from their workplace drive there. These short trips are the easiest to replace with walking or cycling, with benefits for the climate, your health and your budget.6Make your devices last and buy refurbished: the real digital leverAccording to ADEME and Arcep, manufacturing devices accounts for the largest share of the carbon footprint of digital technology in France. Keeping your phone longer, repairing it or buying refurbished counts far more than deleting emails.

What lies beneath the surface

How it works

What you give sticks out, like an iceberg. The rest is real data.

  1. Choose

    01

An Antarctic giant tracked today, or a historical traveller from Iceberg Alley.

  2. Personalise

    02

For you or as a gift: a name, a message, and the web page with QR code if you like.

  3. Pay

    03

Secure payment, refunded on request within 30 days.

  4. Receive

    04

The PDF certificate arrives by email, right away or on the date you pick for a gift.

  5. Follow

    05

Every year, news of your iceberg and of sea ice, from USNIC and NSIDC data.
